Short Sales: Know Your Options Before It’s Too Late
Short Sales: Know Your Options Before It’s Too Late
If you're struggling with your mortgage payments, have received a Notice of Default, or are worried about foreclosure, you may have more options than you realize.
One of those options may be a short sale.
I recently taught a Short Sale Seminar at Keller Williams La Quinta, helping local real estate professionals better understand the short sale process and how we can help homeowners facing difficult situations.
After the class, I received this message from one of the agents who attended:
“Good morning Stephanie. I just want to say thank you for all that you do, as you do a lot, and the short sale seminar that you put on yesterday was incredible. I just want to say thank you again. You step way beyond the call of duty.”
Messages like this mean a lot to me because short sales are something I have specialized in for more than 15 years.
What Is a Short Sale?
A short sale happens when a homeowner sells a property and the proceeds from the sale are not enough to pay everything owed against the property. The mortgage lender or other lien holders may agree to accept less than the full amount owed so the property can be sold.
Every homeowner's circumstances are different, and a short sale isn't the right solution for everyone. That's why understanding all of your available options is so important.
Facing Foreclosure? Start by Understanding Your Options
If you've fallen behind on your mortgage or received a Notice of Default, don't assume foreclosure is inevitable.
Depending on your circumstances, your options could include bringing the loan current, working with your lender on a possible loan modification or repayment solution, selling the property traditionally if you have sufficient equity, or exploring whether a short sale makes sense.
The earlier you start gathering information, the more time you may have to evaluate those possibilities.
Considering a Short Sale in the Coachella Valley?
I've spent more than 15 years working with short sales and negotiating with lenders and lienholders. I help homeowners understand the real estate side of the process, determine what their property may be worth, and navigate the sale and short sale negotiation when appropriate.
I work with homeowners throughout Palm Desert, La Quinta, Indio, Coachella, Rancho Mirage, Cathedral City, Palm Springs, Desert Hot Springs and the surrounding Coachella Valley and Southern California.
If you're behind on your mortgage, have received a Notice of Default, or simply want to know whether a short sale could be one of your options, I'm happy to have a private, confidential, no-pressure conversation with you.
There is no obligation to list your home just because you ask questions.
